When the going gets tough – it’s time to stay at home. With the credit crunch taking hold, some holidaymakers are looking to Great Britain for their summer 2009 break.
Leading worldwide tour operator Page & Moy (0800 043 0234 / www.pageandmoy.com) has increased its UK holiday offering for 2009 to cater for the growing demand for holidays at home.
The UK breaks, both old and new, are showcased in a dedicated ‘Discover the British Isles’ brochure, which launches this month.
'Unsurprisingly, the credit crunch, coupled with concerns about the environmental impact of flying and the introduction of fuel charges, has had an impact on the British holidaymaker who is now thinking about where to go next year,' says Caroline Jack, Head of Media and PR, Page & Moy.
'It’s easy to forget how beautiful, rugged and diverse the British Isles can be but the current economic climate is turning peoples’ attention back to the UK and 2009 could be the year the Brits discover that there really is no place like home.'
The Page & Moy brochure spans the Scottish Highlands right down to the Isles of Scilly and features a number of brand new holidays including ‘Lakeland Steamers’ and ‘Cornish Gardens’.
